Cabling

Voice Cabling

Voice or phone cabling is a specialty for Discount Telecom. Our engineers will cable your offices or facilities and complete all the necessary work. Category 3 or 5 cabling is typically used. At the phone end, a choice of single, twin, quad or six way face plates can be used using RJ11 modular connectors.

Data Cabling

Data or computer cabling is most identical to voice cabling other than the ends of the cabling are prepared differently. Typically data cable installations are terminated to a patch panel in a rack mounted cabinet. From here, the cables are patched to hubs and switches etc. At the other end of the cables, the copper wire is terminated to RJ45 modular connectors and housed in face plates with the same options as for phones.

Cable types include Category 5, 5e and 6. For data backbones connecting buildings, fiber optic cable is normally chosen. Discount Telecom will complete the full installation and test for TIA (industry standard) compliance. Color coded jacks and patch cables can be provided to help identify different parts of the network which is useful when changes need to be made.

Rack Cabinets & Accessories

Both wall mounted cable cabinets and floor standing cabinets of various sizes can be provided to house your data cabling and networking hardware. The larger racks can have mounted fans for cooling and be provided with shelves, castors or standard legs. Network equipment enclosures are typically supplied with tinted glass screen doors with integral locks.

Is your cabling cabinet a mess? Call Discount Telecom to sort it out for you. Cable management units are used to control patch leads and professional labeling is provided to keep identification of cables or wires in check. Color coded products are used to help keep control for future changes.
