History

Discount Telecom was established in 1989 to provide local businesses and organizations with telephone systems and cabling services, at discount prices. Since that time, the company has grown significantly and now has a sales turnover in excess of $1.5 million. It employs over 15 experienced and qualified staff. Now with the addition of our networking services department, this will make Discount Telecom a single source for communications and network solutions.

The President

The founder and President is Shawn Turner who has been a technician since the age of 16, has developed a substantial customer base of clients in the Sarasota and Manatee county areas. This customer base has grown on the honest advice by Shawn to his customers and by an unmatched desire to provide the best maintenance service in the area.

Product Range

Telephone systems have changed greatly since the formation of the company. Features such as voice mail, auto attendant, T1 integration and computer telephony are now standard parts of a phone system and are fully supported by Discount Telecom. Most leading brands of equipment are supplied, although Inter-Tel and NEC/Nitsuko lead the product range. Systems start from simple 3 line key systems to multi-site systems with hundreds of lines.

IP telephony is now a viable option, particularly for multiple site offices or even for mobile staff members. Here, the cost of long distance / out of state calls can be eliminated altogether. This is an exciting technology with huge potential. Discount Telecom has partnered with the leading providers in this industry including Inter-Tel and Cisco.

Discount Telecom provides a full computer networking service. This includes the supply of PC's, servers, peripherals and networking hardware for local and wide area networks (LAN and WAN). A full cabling service is provided including voice (phones) and data (computers) using the various cabling types such as Category 3/5/5e, level 7 and fiber. Rack solutions, wired management are also a standard services.

Emergency Service

When an emergency occurs, we'll be there for you. Emergency service is provided 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Regular service is from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
